It is essential that you select specific words and phrases applicable to your line of business. A good suggestion is to keep a vocabulary list and update it with new words regularly.

Above is a preliminary vocabulary list from Cambridge English (“Materials”). Please study the list and make your own list of words you need to learn for your specific expertise area. It would be good practice to go through them regularly.

You can also download the PDF (Click on the button above) from academia.edu. I would suggest that you keep the PDF and print the sheets you need to practise and do the exercises. I will be referring to it and ask you to do exercises in it.

Exercise 1.

In the PDF “Check Your English Vocabulary for Business and Administration”, that you downloaded from academia.edu, read the clues on page 1 and do the crossword puzzle on page 2.

Exercise 2.

In the same PDF, under “Appraisals, training, and staff development” do questions 1 to 9 in the quiz. Make sure that you enter the words in the spaces provided on page 3 of the PDF. Be sure to match the letter in the bold space to the letter in the shaded space on the line below. Complete the rest of the exercise below. Make a picture of the completed exercise 2 and submit the image in the assignments section for evaluation below.

Exercise 3.

Choose the most appropriate word from those provided to complete sentences 10 – 18. in the quiz. (Click on “quiz”)

Exercise 4.

Read and ensure that you understand the words in the vocabulary list PDF (from Cambridge University – in the “Lesson Materials”. Send me a note should you have any problems. I would recommend that you study 2 pages of words before or after each lesson.
