Paraphrases – Part 1

We are going to look at some information about the history of one of the world’s best-known companies. Can you name the company?

Clue 1: It’s famous for its fast-food restaurants.

Exercise 1.

Read each short section in questions 1 – 4 in quiz 1, and decide if the numbered sentence below it is ‘Right’ or if the text ‘Doesn’t say’. Do Questions 1 – 4 (Paraphrases – Quiz 1) below.

Tell me which part of the text gives the answer. Jot (write) it down and upload your answer in the assignments below.

Exercise 2.

Read each short section in questions 5 – 8 (Paraphrases – Quiz 2), and decide if the sentence is ‘Wrong’ or if the text ‘Doesn’t say’. If it is ‘Wrong’, write down the part of the text that gives the answer and submit your answers in the assignments section below.

Read the rest of the company history, (See PDF “McDonalds” below) and decide if the statements given in questions 9 to 15 of “Paraphrases – Quiz 3” are ‘Right’, ‘Wrong’ or if the text ‘Doesn’t say’. If it is ‘Right’ or ‘Wrong’, write down the part of the text that gives the answer and submit your answer in the assignments section below.

Paraphrases – Part 2

Read the newspaper article (PAC.pdf) below about an organisation which protects its members’ original designs.

• For each question 1 – 7, write a statement that is ‘Right’, ‘Wrong’ or ‘Doesn’t say’, based on the underlined section of the text that has the same number. It may be easier to write the ‘Right’ statements first.
